CDK Global, a software provider to retailers, is working to restore systems used at more than 15,000 car-dealer locations in North America. The process is expected to take several days, Reuters reported, citing an emailed statement from the company.
On Wednesday, CDK briefly shut down all its systems to investigate a possible breach.
U.S. auto retailers Sonic Automotive (NYSE:SAH) and Penske Automotive (NYSE:PAG) on Friday said their operations had been negatively affected as CDK’s systems were down for a third straight day of outage.
A group of hackers claiming responsibility for a cyberattack on CDK demanded millions of dollars in ransom to put an end to the hack, Bloomberg News previously reported.
Investment firm Brookfield Business Partners in April 2022 bought CDK for $6.41 billion in a deal that took private the last major publicly traded provider of information technology to car dealers and manufacturers.
