More than 200,000 power banks sold on Amazon through INIU, a popular brand in the portable power bank market, have been affected by a massive recall. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), these power banks are prone to overheating and igniting, posing significant fire and burn hazards to consumers.
The recall affects a whopping 210,000 power banks sold between August 2021 and April 2022 for around $18. The affected power banks can be identified by their blue or black case featuring the INIU company logo.
During this period, INIU has received 15 reports of the power banks overheating, resulting in 11 fires that caused over $380,000 in property damage and three minor burn injuries. The CPSC has warned consumers to immediately stop using the recalled power banks and to contact INIU for a free replacement or a full refund.
