- Chewy (NYSE:CHWY) shares jumped over 22% premarket on Monday after influential trader Keith Gill, known online as Roaring Kitty, disclosed a 6.6% stake in the pet food retailer.
- The stake disclosure comes just days after Gill posted picture of a dog on social media site X. Gill’s post on Thursday sent Chewy’s shares soaring to a near one-year high in intraday trading.
- Rival, Petco (WOOF) shares also jumped 6% following the disclosure.
- Roaring Kitty has spoken favorably about Chewy (CHWY) founder Ryan Cohen in the past in the context of backing up his bullish thesis on GameStop (GME).
- Short interest on Chewy (CHWY) stands at 14.88% of the total float. Last Thursday, Chewy (CHWY) disclosed that it struck an agreement to repurchase $500M worth of equity directly from its BC Partners.
