The Starlink Mini (STRLK) satellite internet service will be available later this year and be priced at half the standard terminal price, Elon Musk said on Wednesday.
Musk posted the statement on his social media platform X. His space exploration company SpaceX (SPACE) is developing Starlink Mini as a compact, portable kit to deliver internet via the Starlink satellite constellation.
Starlink Mini claims to use less power than a standard Starlink terminal while still delivering internet speeds of over 100Mbps. Musk’s post suggests it will also be priced lower than Starlink terminals, making it more accessible.
Starlink Mini is currently available in Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Panama, and to a small group of customers in the US via invitation only. An early access email sent to select US customers priced the hardware at $599 and effectively $150 per month for 50 GB of data. The email did not specify when deliveries would begin.
