Enbridge (NYSE:ENB) and the Six Nations Energy Development consortium unveiled plans Monday to develop a wind energy project in Saskatchewan, supported partly by loan guarantees of up to $100M from the Saskatchewan Indigenous Investment Finance Corporation.
The Seven Stars Energy Project, to be developed, constructed and operated by Enbridge (ENB), is expected to produce 200 MW of emissions–free power, enough to support the annual energy needs of more than 100K homes; the project is targeted to begin operations in 2027.
The First Nation and Metis Nation partners have an opportunity to acquire equity ownership of at least 30% in the project.
Enbridge (ENB) said it is working on a long-term power purchase agreement with SaskPower to support final investment decisions, anticipated in 2025.
