Hawaiian Electric (NYSE:HE) fell 9.3% at least partly amid a report that the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has completed its report on the cause of the Maui wildfires.
The public won’t be able to see the report until the Maui Fire Department releases it, Honolulu Civil Beat reported on Friday. Federal ATF officials were in Maui last week briefing the Maui Fire Dept. on the regulators’ finding, a spokesman for the agency told the publication.
The ATF plans to post he 600-page report on its website, though only after the Maui releases its own origin and cause report, which will include the ATF report.
A spokesman for the fire department told the publication that he didn’t have an estimate date for releasing the ATF report.
In late May, Hawaiian Electric (HE) said it’s not at fault for the deadly fire that destroyed the historic town of Lahaina, and that Maui County should be held responsible, according to a Bloomberg report at the time.
