Walmart (NYSE:WMT) has reportedly held talks with parties such as Humana (HUM) over a possible sale of its financially troubled healthcare centers business.
According to Fortune, Walmart has been in discussions with several parties, including health insurance companies. Fortune cited Humana as one of the parties that has shown interest in the business, which includes 51 clinics and a virtual healthcare component.
In April, the retail giant announced it was shuttering Walmart Health and Walmart Health Virtual Care after determining there wasn’t a “sustainable business model to continue.” Walmart cited a “challenging reimbursement climate” and “escalating operating costs” as contributing factors.
In addition to the healthcare centers, Walmart also operates nearly 4,600 pharmacies and over 3,000 vision centers. The company has more than 10,500 stores in 19 countries.
